Lia, a troubled urban teen, is sent to live with her estranged grandmother in the arctic. Desperate for a better life, she escapes by boat into a river leading her into the harsh wilderness. Here she meets Alfred, a solitary hunter, who reluctantly takes her under his wing, exposing her to an unfamiliar world of danger and vulnerability. When Alfred is severely wounded in a bear attack, their roles reverse and Lia must fight to save both of their lives.
